Meet the collaborative

The start of 2024 has seen our QLD OT Futures operational collaborative team continue to grow and evolve, with a couple of farewells to longstanding members and a warm welcomed to some new members from our universities, to support the growth in our student OT numbers across the state.

Our OT Futures operational collaborative is made up of representatives from each of the 9 occupational therapy university programs in QLD, who coordinate OT student placements for each program- ACU, Bond, CQU, Griffith, JCU, SCU, UQ, UniSC & UniSQ.

2024 Placement Updates

Between January- June 2024, we will have had over 500 OT students complete a clinical block placement in QLD. We would like extend a very big to thank all of our industry partners who supported and continue to support our students on placement in the first half of 2024.

In April, the collaborative held its state-wide allocations meeting for July-Dec 2024 placement offers. Following this meeting, we are pleased to share that most offers have now been allocated to universities, and we are currently working toward allocating all placement offers.

We are still accepting offers for the July- Dec 2024 period from all locations in QLD, so please reach out to your local university contact (details below) to express any interest in hosting one of our students on placement with your organisation this year. Locations with current outstanding need for placements include the Gold Coast, North Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay & Fraser Coast region, and Townsville.

Training

A reminder to our existing placement partners, and any OT’s who may be new to or interested OT student placement supervision, and who are looking to continue their professional development in supervising student, our OT Futures collaborative provide training across the year to support our industry OT’s in supervising students on placement.
