OT Week 2023 - Unity Through the Community of Practice Education
The OT week theme for 2023 is ‘Unity through Community’. For the last 19 years Occupational Therapy programs in Queensland have demonstrated unity to support community of practice educators in Queensland to provide quality placement experiences for their students.
Starting as the Queensland Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Collaborative (QOTFC) in 2004, and later evolving into the Occupational Therapy Practice Education Collaborative – Queensland (OTPEC-Q) with the operational group University Occupational Therapy Practice Education Network – Queensland (UOTPEN-Q). Every university with an Occupational Therapy program in Queensland is connected through the collaborative. Most recently, the collaborative has undergone a rebrand to support our placement partners with more streamlined processes, education, and opportunities. OT futures came to life in 2022.
What is OT futures?
OT futures strives to integrate professional leadership among universities, professional bodies, major employers, and individual occupational therapists to meet the demand and progress quality and sustainability of occupational therapy student education in Queensland.
OT futures aims to promote state-wide collaboration and leadership to ensure a strategic and innovative approach to occupational therapy student education across Queensland.
OT futures has a range of resources through the partner universities to build the capacity of practice educators to build and maintain quality practice education experiences.
How can you partner with OT futures?
If you are an individual occupational therapist, team leader, or business owner OT futures are keen to connect and build the community of practice educators in Queensland to ensure the quality of the future occupational therapy workforce. Practice placements range from 5-12 weeks in duration and the plans for semester 1, 2024 placements are underway!
